No people in your back yard unless you invited them to join you. Bayfront is better for so many reasons. Do you have or want a boat? With beachfront you have to rent a slip for access to the water. With bayfront walk out of your house, across the yard to your dock and get in your boat, or kayak, or raft, paddle board, windsurfers Jetski or whatever. Get the idea? It doesn’t end there. Like swimming? The ocean is nice when it’s not too rough or too cold. And your seasonal beach badge entitles you to access for surfing, swimming, boogie boarding, etc. You don’t need a badge if you own bayfront. Do all those things right off the dock. Plus, you could launch your Sunfish, Hobie Cat, or Jetski if you wanted. Can’t do that off the beach. The bay is usually 5-10 degrees warmer than the ocean, too. And no rip currents. And you get firework shows on the horizon for every major holiday, which you could even watch from your bed. Also great for watching occasional thunderstorms that may light up the entire sky and reflection in the bay. Perhaps you like fishing. You could do that on the beach, where it’s allowed. If you own bayfront all you need to do is drop a line off your bulkhead, or go out in your boat and even head out Barnegat Inlet, which is only 2 miles away. And so many more ideas for boating fun. But perhaps the best reason to buy bayfront is people: Do you have kids? Do they have friends and toys? Being able to hang out and have fun with all those water toys (boats, jet skis, etc) is more fun for most people than just sitting on the beach and looking at the ocean. If you like to entertain you’ll quickly find that you don’t have to do anything to have guests enjoy themselves other than getting them to come visit. There are so many things to do on the bay: swimming, boating, crabbing, clamming, fishing, sailing, exploring by kayak, jet skiing, bird watching, taking pictures of nature. Finally, the question of how much you’re actually going to use the house. Since winter weather is the same on both sides of the island, the issues comes down to this: if you have more things to do, you’re going to use the house more. You’re going to use the house over Thanksgiving, New Year's and President’s Weekend because the break is delicious and the sun still sets in your back yard. And all those nice days that happen in the off season become another reason to play hookie on the bay. So you’ll get more from your investment, and you and your family will have someplace to call home for generations to come. There it is: Bayfront is the secret gem of LBI. Sure, beachfront sounds good. Those houses tend to be bigger and they usually cost more, too. But if you want to have more fun, save yourself a million dollars and buy bayfront, this house is for you.
